Well, if you didn't know, there's A LOT that goes into a mission. Preparing to serve just doesn't mean emotionally, physically and spiritually---there's other loose ends to tie up before you leave.
The reason I entitled this post "Surgery, Short Hair, and Shopping-Oh My" is to inform you of just how crazy the month before your mission can be!
1. Surgery
Alright, SO maybe it would have been wise of me to get my wisdom teeth out a long time ago, oops. Welp, they're out now. After three weeks of ibuprofen, pain meds, and a bad case of dry socket, I can finally eat solid foods without dying! Woohoo!
Badda Bing Badda Boom.

2. Short Hair
Anyone who knows me knows that I take pride in my hair--I know, horrible, but I am being completely honest. Since 7th grade (After a BAD haircut) I vowed I would NEVER cut my hair short EVER AGAIN. Well, I kept that promised until I called to serve in South America--AKA hot and humid. I knew that my long Polynesian mane would only be an annoyance, so the time had come to tame the mane. 11 INCHES-- NOT CENTIMETERS--INCHES was cut from my head! My head feels a whole 10lbs lighter. Though I do miss my Rapaunzel-like locks, I am digging the new fun short hairdo.
3. Shopping
Missionary Shopping IS NO JOKE. From shoes, to dresses, to skirts--I feel like my head is going to explode! AND that's just clothes! Then there's misc items like socks, toiletries, makeup, scriptures, journals, water bottle etc etc etc. I am pretty sure the people at Walmart know me by name by now--I have literally gone there more than 10 times in the past week. Though my bedroom looks like a tornado hit from of all the packing that's going on, it just makes me all the more excited!
Honestly, the month before the MTC is crazy, but I wouldn't have traded it for the world! Getting everything together has finally made me feel like I am REALLY going on a Mission! It has made me all the more excited to serve!
